Genting Highland

Brrrr.... Remember to bring your jackets! It's very cold there as it is nestled on a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia. Resorts World Genting is operated by Genting Malaysia Berhad (formerly known as Resorts World Bhd), which also operates Awana chain of resorts & hotels. It is accessible by car from Kuala Lumpur in one hour, or also accessible by a cable car called Genting Skyway which at its opening used to be the world's fastest and South East Asia's longest gondola lift.

If you're a person who seeks for thriller rides, then there are a few rides I would recommend.

This is the flying coaster

WOW RIGHT? Yes. When you're on this ride you will feel like falling.

Besides that, the corkscrew is also quite a thrill. It is a 360 degrees high speed roller coaster.

Then the spaceshot! Strapped onto seats, four to a side of a tower, visitors are given the opportunity to catch a scenic glimpse of the highlands as they are raised 185 feet up in the air. After being left hanging for about 10 seconds (which may feel like forever to some), the G-force is then released, plunging the visitors at 67 km/hour. This gives each participant a sense of weightlessness and free falling as they descent this heart pounding ride.

The minimum height for this ride is 137cm and is available for all who purchase the Outdoor Theme Park Pass. It is definitely not a ride for the faint-hearted or those who are acrophobic.

I hope you're all feeling like this

Mid Valley Megamall

Mid Valley Megamall located in Kuala Lumpur, the main tourism city of Malaysia is a must to go when you're in Kuala Lumpur. It has 5 floors filled to the brim with a whopping 400 different shops.

Now I, myself has been shopping at this shopping complex for as long as I can remember. You could say that it's almost as if it's my second home. As a regular customer, there I would recommend a few restaurants and stores.

The Yogitree located at Gardens, Midvalley at the 2nd floor is a beautifully furnished restaurant which serves healthy  and organic food or others might say rabbit food. Now, for those of you who would pass any dish with the word organic in it, will be really surpise by how well the food here taste like. It emphasizes on simple and healthy cooking. One of my fave dish there is the Tagliatelle Carbonara with Smoked Salmon

                 Tagliatelle Carbonara with Smoked Salmon

Now, as an avid fan of carbonara, I will say that this is the best one that i have ever had. Their roasted chicken dishes are also not to be missed. Plus their heavenly Carbonara with Bacon Bits and Mushroom. They provid a healtier alternative by providing a more eggy carbonara sauce rather then the usual fatty milk sauce.

Not only that, it also has woderfull desserts.I love the wide array of cakes and desserts displayed right in front of the entrance of the restaurant.

                                                             Pure Chocolate Cake
This heavenly no bake chocolate cake is to die for. Served with a dollop of whipping cream or vanilla ice cream, melt in your mouth bitter sweet choclolate and a soft biscuit filling, this cake would be the definition of heaven.

There are still many other wondefull desserts as well as macaroons served there. Now may I add that the food here might be a little pricey but I will bet my pennies that it is all worth every sen.

Sadly, Yogitree might be going out of business soon as it lacks customers because it is located at the far end corner of the 2nd floor.

Another good restaurant at Midvalley is The Tony Roma's Steak House.

The Tony Roma's Steak House located at the 2nd lower ground floor of Midvalley
This resaturant serves the best ribs you could ever find in Kuala Lumpur.

                                                                    Tony Roma's Ribs
It's succulent and melt in your mouth meat is absolutely delightful with it's sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. It also comes with two side dishes of your choice, ranging from good old mash potatoes to roasted vegetables.

                                                              Shrimp Scampi Pasta
Now this delightful dish is one of my all time favourites at Tony Roma's Steak House. With a generous helping of shrimps and cheese plus a sour and salty tomato base sauce, this dish is absolutely delish!

That's all for now.. look out for more posts about Midvalley soon

Pulau Perhentian @ Terrengganu !

Pulau Perhentian, meaning 'stopover island', is not to be missed. Situated 21km off the coast of Terengganu, it consists of the islands of Pulau Perhentian Besar and Pulau Perhentian Kecil. Covered by unspoilt jungle, windswept palms, powdery white beaches and surrounded by sapphire blue waters, Pulau Perhentian is a sanctuary for fishermen, migratory birds and of course, holiday makers! :D

The islands of Perhentian Besar (Big) and kecil (small) offer amazing snorkeling spots!!! Bring your family and friends snorkeling in this beautiful island! The aquamarine waters with excellent visibility and spectacular underwater reefs make Perhentian the preferred choice of veteran divers. Plunge in and experince the thrill of seeing manta rays, reef sharks and barracudas.Closer to shore, there's the option of watching turtles lay eggs at Three Coves bay, feeding the vibrant coloured fish or just sitting back and enjoying the sun and breeze.

Between the islands of Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Susu Dara are some spectacular dive sites.Sightings of the whale shark, the largets fish in the world, are common.Found close to the equator, whale sharks are harmless to people and totally indifferent to divers

 Isn't it beautiful?

It is currently closed because of Monsoon season, but it will reopen in February, 2013! :)

Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Ball)

Humongous Tang Yuen  (try eating it without chewing xD)

It's colourful, don't you agree? (I like colourful things). These are homemade tang yuens. I know the last one *ehem* seems pretty big compares to the normal sized tang yuan. Round, small and adorable.. As I've said, these are homemade tang yuans, so let's make it more outstanding. =) Remember to put lots of love into it, when you are making it.

There is a legend about tang yuan. There was a maid of honor who was called Yuanxiao. She missed her parents a lot but she could not leave the palace, therefore, she wept all the time and even wanted to turn to suicide. A minister knew her story and promised to help her. What Yuanxiao needed to do was to make lots of Tangyuans, which was the best cuisine she could make, in order to worship the god on 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar. Finally, Yuanxiao did a great job and the emperor was so contented; therefore, Yuanxiao was permitted to meet her parents, Tangyuan was named as Yuanxiao and the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar was considered to be Yuanxiao Festival.

Anyway, where can you find it? The answer is simple. Food courts in Malaysia usually have dessert hawker stalls. Tang yuan is a popular dessert you see. So, it's easy to find it. By the way, tang yuans could have different types of fillings in it. For example: chocolate, peanuts and red bean =) The one I made had nothing in it. Thus, we called it kosong.

Yee Hup Heong Peng

It's that time of the year again. Chinese New Year. Most kids would be interested in the money. But what excites me more is the food. The food in Ipoh are normally a blast for me compared to the ones in Kuala Lumpur. Especially the Heong Peng! It's a nice biscuit with a thick sauce within in.

No one has ever ate the Heong Peng without crumbs falling.  Dare to take the challenge? Unless you gobble the whole piece up. It's impossible if your mouth is too small.

Heong Peng, or Heong Peah, or Heang Peah (literally translated to Fragrant Biscuits) is one of Ipoh’s most famous pastry (if not THE most famous), widely marketed and commercialized thanks to the commendable efforts of Yee Hup, one of the most popular brand of Heong Peng originating from Gunung Rapat.

In the modern age where automated production is the norm, Yee Hup Bakery has been baking the mouth-watering heong peng using traditional methods that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Living in Kuala Lumpur and don't know where to get it? It's OK! Just run to the nearest confectionery shop and request for one! But it's much fresher if you buy it straight from the headquarters as it's fresh from the oven.

Petaling Street!!!!

Petaling Street is a Chinatown located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is infamous for pirated clothes and accessories along with bootleg DVDs and CDs.  Petaling Street however does not exclusively offer pirated products. Haggling is a common sight here and the place is usually crowded with locals as well as tourists.

The area has dozens of restaurants and food stalls, serving local favourites such as Hokkien mee, ikan bakar (barbecued fish), asam laksa and curry noodles. Traders here are mainly Chinese but there are also Indians, Malays and Bangladeshi traders.

To experience Petaling Street (Chinatown), you should go at night! It's a place that never sleeps. The jostling crowd and noise are part of the fun of visiting Petaling Street. Without these, it just wouldn't be right.

kuala lumpur petaling street tour package

We can actually say that it looks kind of beautiful!

The street has actually been given a facelift. Gone are the uneven roads and broken pavements and the huge colourful umbrellas that protect the goods sold from wooden pushcarts. Petaling Street is now sheltered, with two large Chinese arches placed at both ends of the street to welcome visitors.
Petaling Street is a bustling market serving as a bargain hunter's paradise and one of the premier shopping areas in the city, which is distinct in oriental atmosphere.

It is famous for its makeshift bazaars or stalls; selling "very reasonably" priced goods like wallets, handbags, t-shirts, watches, shoes as well as dresses, sunglasses, shoes, fabrics and souvenirs. Petaling Street is also known for its jewellery shops with their fascinating variety of fine jewellery items beautifully crafted in gold and set with priceless gemstones.

 Aren't these just amazing??

Food....  Welcome to food haven! Chinese food haven to be exact. There are many restaurants with a lot of delicious choices. Some of the restaurants here have been operating for generations! Patrons would normally be given a menu complete with pictures giving them a good indication of how their meal will look like.
The Hokkien Noodles at the corner of Hong Leong Bank is quite popular judging from the long queues of people waiting to place their order. Don't be disheartened. It is really worth the wait. Look out for Yook Woo Hin restaurant on Petaling Street. It is one the longest surviving family-run food places in KL.

Petaling Street is still a worthwhile place to visit for the food. If you wander into the side lanes, you will still be able to glimpse the old Chinatown, from the lane that sells funeral wreaths to the almost hidden wet market selling live poultry, seafood, and fresh vegetables.
