Yee Hup Heong Peng

It's that time of the year again. Chinese New Year. Most kids would be interested in the money. But what excites me more is the food. The food in Ipoh are normally a blast for me compared to the ones in Kuala Lumpur. Especially the Heong Peng! It's a nice biscuit with a thick sauce within in.

No one has ever ate the Heong Peng without crumbs falling.  Dare to take the challenge? Unless you gobble the whole piece up. It's impossible if your mouth is too small.

Heong Peng, or Heong Peah, or Heang Peah (literally translated to Fragrant Biscuits) is one of Ipoh’s most famous pastry (if not THE most famous), widely marketed and commercialized thanks to the commendable efforts of Yee Hup, one of the most popular brand of Heong Peng originating from Gunung Rapat.

In the modern age where automated production is the norm, Yee Hup Bakery has been baking the mouth-watering heong peng using traditional methods that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Living in Kuala Lumpur and don't know where to get it? It's OK! Just run to the nearest confectionery shop and request for one! But it's much fresher if you buy it straight from the headquarters as it's fresh from the oven.

  1. Hi there, I am actually looking for these. Can you help me here, do you know any confectionery shops around KLCC, Bukit Bintang or Jalan Alor? I am from Australia.
