Gula ketuk-ketuk

It's hard,it's cold..Yet it is so sweet when it melts in your mouth. *drum rolls* it's the gula ketuk-ketuk. Yep, it's a traditional sweet. *ping, ping* there goes the sound of the vendor trying to break the gula ketuk-ketuk. This sweet is useful for sore throat. Warning: It might break you tooth if u try to chew it before it melts in your mouth.

Recently, I ate this in Melaka Jonker Street. Somehow, the verdor selling this candy is always busy, white the passer-by watched in amazement. If you ever come to Malaysia, you must try this sweet.

Strawberry Farms
Strawberry farms can be found almost everywhere in Cameron Highlands. All offer locally grown strawberries and home made strawberry jams and a very cheap price. Some strawberry farms will let you pluck your own strawberries and charge you according to the weight. Here is a list of some of the popular strawberry farms in Cameron Highlands :

- Kasimani's Strawberry Farm
- KHM Strawberry Farm

Get a change to see many different species of butterflies which used to be a common sight in the highlands many years ago. A walk through an enclosed area where each species of butterfly is happily floating around in a lush, plant-filled garden is the highlight.

Pulau Pangkor

Although Pangkor Island is known for its rich marine life and beautiful beaches evidenced by the rising tourism industry and the age-old fishing trade, the island is also known as a great trekking and bird watching place. Pulau Pangkor is a mountainous island, lying off the coast of the state of Perak.

Because of the island’s remarkable topography, there are a lot of activities to do here. Other than jungle trekking, some of the activities in the island include scuba diving, snorkeling, cultural trips, camping along the seaside and bird watching. These activities will let you get near nature and make for a great bonding moment with your friends or family. Pangkor Hill is a common trekking place in the island. Located at the foot of the hill is the Foo Lin Kong temple, another popular site to visit in the island, boasting beautiful water garden and stunning landscape. Besides Pangkor Hill, you can also try Tortoise Hill.

Along the trails to the hill, you can find some exotic flora and fauna. The site is home to dozens of flowers, plants and animals. Rare orchids can be found along the way while colorful birds like giant hornbills perch on the trees at the steep hill slopes. Catch a glimpse of the Macaque monkey swinging on the tree branches. When you reach the hilltop, you’ll see a tall viewing tower to witness the panoramic view of the countryside, the Strait of Malacca, the lush forests and the Tortoise Bay. The Tortoise Bay, also known as Teluk Ketapang in Malay, is a stunning and peaceful beach, sandwiched in between Pasir Bogak and Teluk Nipah. In this beach, you can witness a clear view of Pangkor Laut Island and Mentangor Island.

You should not miss trekking in Tortoise Hill because this is only one of the few untouched natural sites in Pangkor Island. You can snap great photos of the island watch different species of birds and animals and witness the orange sunset on top of the hill. You can also bring some food and enjoy a book while sitting under a shady tree.

So listen here people, whenever you happen to have a vacation in Malaysia, don't ever forget to come visit Pulau Pangkor too!!!

Famous Muar Otak-otaks =)

Shoplots in Muar

Shoplots in Muar

Persatuan Chiang Chuang at Jln. Ali

Muar,oh,Muar! How I miss you so badly when I'm in Kuala Lumpur. Muar is like a peaceful little town. Free from the hustle and bustle of city life. Here, there's not much traffic jam as well. But, it's not too boring either. Muar, is the perfect blend of both countryside and also urban lifestyle. . Muar's shoplots are also preserved just the way they are since a long, long time ago till now. Giving this little town it's very own unique structures of building like in the 70's. Other than that, the food here is really nice too. Muar is famous for otak-otaks and also Wan Tan Mee.

Otak-Otak

 .
When I was a kid I used to think that otak-otak looks like of tongue.Slightly red and short like tongue..I'm so sorry. xD I do not mean to make you think wrongly. Anyway, "otak-otak" is a malay word  means brain in English. No worries, it's not made of brains. Otak-otaks are usually made from fish and prawns (seafood). Personally,I prefer fish otak-otak. I have to warn you though. Otak-otak are highly addictive. Don't blame me if you got addicted and cant stop eating it =D

Mamak! Roti! Maggi!

A mamak stall is a shop that sells "mamak" food. Although traditionally operated from roadside stalls, some modern mamak stall operators have expanded their businesses into restaurant or cafe-type establishments. Mamak stalls tend to be popular among Malaysian youths as hang out spots, due to cheap food and beverages being served 24 hours a day!

The most famous food in the "mamak" store is our traditional ROTI CANAI! :D

Roti canai, (roti means bread) is a type of Indian-influenced flatbread found in MalaysiaThe dish is composed of dough containing copious amounts of fateggflour and water. The form of fat used is usually ghee (clarified butter). The ideal roti is flat, fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside.

Roti canai served with DAHL, FISH CURRY and SAMBAL :)

Roti canai is circular and flat. There are two ways to make roti canai that is either to twirl it until the dough becomes a very thin sheet and then folded into a circular shape or to spread out the dough as thinly as possible before being folded. Then the folded dough is grilled with oil. The first method is more popular and faster than the second. The term 'roti paratha' in Malay means 'plate bread'.

You can find Roti Canai at any "mamak" stall in Malaysia! All you have to say is "Bang, satu roti canai bang!" (Bro, 1 "roti canai" bro.) ;)

You can also order other roti's at the mamak! Such as :

Roti Telur (telur means egg)

Roti Bawang (bawang means onion)

Roti Tisu (A kind of tall and crispy "roti" that contains condensed milk and lots of sugar)

Another signature dish in the mamak is their "MAGGI GORENG" (fried maggi/noodle)

Maggi Goreng, fried with onions, eggs, vegetables and served with a lime! :)

Last but not least, the most famous drink in the Mamak stall.....

TEH TARIK!!! (direct translation : PULL TEA, funny isn't it? But really, its milk tea. :) )

So if you ever drop by Malaysia, you MUST MUST MUST go to the Mamak and try all these wonderful dishes!

Genting Highland

Brrrr.... Remember to bring your jackets! It's very cold there as it is nestled on a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia. Resorts World Genting is operated by Genting Malaysia Berhad (formerly known as Resorts World Bhd), which also operates Awana chain of resorts & hotels. It is accessible by car from Kuala Lumpur in one hour, or also accessible by a cable car called Genting Skyway which at its opening used to be the world's fastest and South East Asia's longest gondola lift.

If you're a person who seeks for thriller rides, then there are a few rides I would recommend.

This is the flying coaster

WOW RIGHT? Yes. When you're on this ride you will feel like falling.

Besides that, the corkscrew is also quite a thrill. It is a 360 degrees high speed roller coaster.

Then the spaceshot! Strapped onto seats, four to a side of a tower, visitors are given the opportunity to catch a scenic glimpse of the highlands as they are raised 185 feet up in the air. After being left hanging for about 10 seconds (which may feel like forever to some), the G-force is then released, plunging the visitors at 67 km/hour. This gives each participant a sense of weightlessness and free falling as they descent this heart pounding ride.

The minimum height for this ride is 137cm and is available for all who purchase the Outdoor Theme Park Pass. It is definitely not a ride for the faint-hearted or those who are acrophobic.

I hope you're all feeling like this
